Global Initiative
The FISHER Project is aimed at all sectors of the global fishing industry, and actively promotes accident reporting by sector participants. Accident and related safety event information is captured, recorded and analysed and is used solely for the purpose of promoting safety across the global fishing sector.
We encourage both formal (through regulatory frameworks) and voluntary (confidential) reporting. All information received is treated as confidential.
International Collaboration
A letter of intent between the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Lloyds Register Foundation (LRF), The PEW Charitable Trusts (PEW) and The FISH Safety Foundation (FSF) on the development of a global accident and fatality reporting and data management system for the fisheries sector has been signed. FAO and CHIRP Maritime have expressed support.
Project Recognition
The 34th Session (February 2021) of the FAO Committee on Fisheries [COFI] further highlighted the international collaboration with regards to the FISHER Project development. See here for further information.
